This is an original 1857 monochrome in-text wood engraving of Brigham Young and his wives. Young was a fascinating character. Not only did he effectively found Salt Lake City in Utah, he also served as President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (better known by some as the Mormon Church). He was an avid practitioner of polygamy, and became the successor of Joseph Smith two years after the leader's death. Some of his many nicknames included: "American Moses," "Mormon Moses," "Lion of the Lord," "Brother Brigham," and "Father of Mormon Polygamy."
