This is an original 1859 black and white wood engraving that depicts travelers returning to Jerusalem. On either side are ancient stone walls. First century historian Josephus indicated that King Herod's burial ground lay near this location, and in recent times it was discovered deep inside Herodium at the end of a wide staircase as Josephus mentioned in his writings.
