This is an original 1868 black and white wood engraving of Bokké, the wife of Moy who was the chief of Latooka. She is dressed in the customs of her country- adorned with body piercings and red ointment in her hair. Latooka is an island nation in the Indian Ocean located off the eastern coast of Africa. It is the third-smallest African nation by area.
