This is an original 1875 black and white steel engraving by British artist William Henry Bartlett, which depicts the city of Brussels as seen from Laeken, Belgium. In the far left is the neoclassical facade of the Royal Palace, built in the late 18th century by Charles de Wailly.

Bartlett, William Henry

William Henry Bartlett (1809-1852) was a skilled British artist who specialized in steel engravings. He was also an avid traveler who made frequent trips to the Middle East and the Americas. Unfortunately, his excessive exploration was a downfall, as he died of a fever whilst onboard a French ship off the Maltese coast.
