This is an original 1875 black and white in-text wood engraving of a sketch by Joseph Becker of the American troops under Colonel William Prescott taking possession of Breed's Hill in the Charlestown section of Boston, Massachusetts on the night of June 16, 1775. This is the site where most of the fighting in the Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775 during the American Revolutionary War.

The Exposition was a World's Fair held in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia from May 10 to November 10, 1876, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.
