This is an original 1875 monochrome woodcut of "The Dome." Depicted is Popocatépetl, an active volcano in Mexico. It is the second highest peak in the country and is connected to the Iztaccihuatl volcano via a saddle known as the Paso de Cortés. The volcano lies southeast of Mexico City and can often be seen from the city if atmospheric conditions are favorable.
