This is an original 1876 black and white relief line-block print of a peasant woman from the island of Majorca (Mallorca) which is situated in the Mediterranean Sea and is a member of the Balearic Islands of Spain. Palma is the capital of this archipelago.

Paul Gustave Doré (1832Ð1883)

Doré was an incredibly talented French artist, best known for his wood and steel engravings. As a child growing up in Strasbourg, he constantly got into trouble for his elaborate pranks, which in hindsight were a testament to his extremely creative mind. Among others, he illustrated editions of such notable works as the Holy Bible, Don Quixote, and the writings of Lord Byron.
