This is an original 1882 hand-colored lithograph by English entomologist William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912), of several species of butterflies from the order of Rhopalocera, including; the Satyrus roxelana, (Fig. 1), the Glacier butterfly, Oeneis aëllo, (Fig. 2), the Satyrus achine, (Fig. 3, a-b), the Siberian Brown, Triphysa phryne, (Fig. 4, a-b), the False Ringlet, Coenonympha oedippus, (Fig. 5), the Epinephile lycaon, (Fig. 6, a-b), the Scarce Heath, Coenonympha hero, (Fig. 7), the Polyommatus orion, (Fig. 8), the Mountain Blue, Albulina pheretes, (Fig. 9), the Polyommatus cyllarus, (Fig. 10), the Damon Blue, Polyommatus damon, (Fig. 11), the Polyommatus baeticus, (Fig. 12), the Spanish Purple Hairstreak, Laeosopis roboris, (Fig. 13), and the Thestor ballus, (Fig. 14).
