This is an original 1882 hand-colored lithograph by English entomologist William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912), of several species of moths from the Noctuae family, including; the Zethes insularis, (Fig. 1), the Vampire moth, Calyptra thalictri, (Fig. 2), the Passenger moth, Dysgonia algira, (Fig. 3), the Telesilla amethystina, (Fig. 4), the Prothymia viridaria, (Fig. 5), the Ophiusa cailino, (Fig. 6), the Haemerosia renalis, (Fig. 7), the Anophia funesta, (Fig. 8), the Pseudophia illunaris, (Fig. 9), the Eastern Alchymist, Aedia leucomelas, (Also called the Sweet Potato Leaf Worm, or Sorcerer, Fig. 10, a-b), and the Cerocala scapulosa, (Fig. 11, a-b).
