This is an original 1882 hand-colored lithograph by English entomologist William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912), of several species of moths, including; the Herald, Scoliopteryx libatrix, (Fig. 1), the Toadflax moth, Calophasia lunula, (also called the Toadflax Brocade Moth, Fig. 2), the Mullein moth, Cucullia verbasci, (Fig. 3, a-c), the Shark moth, Cucullia umbratica, (Fig. 4), the Lettuce Shark, Cucullia lactucae, (Fig. 5, a-b), the Green Silver-spangled Shark, Cucullia argentea, (Fig. 6, a-c), the Marbled Clover, Heliothis viriplaca, (Fig. 7), the Chariclea delphinii, (Fig. 8), the Heliaca tenebrata, (Fig. 9), the Dark Spectacle, Abrostola triplasia, (Fig. 10), and the Acontia luctuosa, (Fig. 11).
