This is an original 1882 black and white lithograph by English entomologist William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912), of the different parts of the "perfect insect, or imago" of European Macro-Lepidopterans that includes butterflies, skipper butterflies, and moth-butterflies. Some of the many parts depicted are; the vertex, eyes, feelers, antennae, ocelli, mandibles, maxillary palpi, labium, labial palpi, thorax, scapulae, abdomen, joints, tongue, legs, wings, etc.
