This is an original 1883 black and white wood engraving of the tree of Noche Triste (Sad Night) in Mexico City. It is said that Cortez was supposed to have stopped during his flight from Mexico City after having been run out of Tenochitlan. It is also said to now be a stump surrounded by a fence.
