This is an original 1888 black and white in-text wood engraving of Noche Triste (Sad Night) Tree. This area got it's name on account of the sorrow that Cortez and his surviving followers felt and expressed at the sight of the loss of life and treasure in the escape from Tenochtitlan, Mexico.
