This is an original 1910 sepia photogravure of "The Pont du Gard." This early twentieth century image captures the Pont du Gard aqueduct bridge as it appeared at the turn of the century. The ancient Roman structure was built in the first century AD and is located in Vers-Pont-du-Gard near Remoulins. Added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1985, it is the highest Roman aqueduct bridge in the world, as well as one of the best preserved.
