This is an original 1913 halftone print of a campsite in Yosemite National Park that is located in eastern California in the United States. This print features the famous Bridalveil Fall in the background. The Ahwahneechee tribe believe that this waterfall was home to a vengeful spirit named Pohono that guarded the entrace into the valley. If someone looks directly into the waterfall as they are leaving the valley, he or she will be cursed. The people of this tribe also believed that if someone breathed in the mist from the waterfall, they would improve their chances of getting married.
