1919 Halftone Print Salento Quindio Colombia Cauca River Eje Cofetero XGO2

This is an original 1919 black and white halftone print of the river town of Salento in Quindio, Colombia. When this piece was produced, the small town was a main stop on the Cauca River for travelers on the route from Cali to Bogota. However, due to industrialization of Colombia, the route had since been diverted causing Salento to remain largely unchanged for decades. Now, a tourist attraction of the Colombian Andes, many of the colonial styled buildings seen here can still be found when visiting the eje cofetero (Colombian coffee growers axis) of the Quindio region.
