This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the 1922 English Derby Race. The caption writes, "England's great blue ribbon classic, the Derby, and a stake of $100,000 fell to Captain Cuttle, here shown leading his field. The winner was piloted by the veteran jockey, Steve O'Donoghue, who wrested the prize from thirty of the best thoroughbreds in training. Although the odds were 10 to 1 against Captain Cuttle, he galloped in eight lengths ahead of the public favorites, covering the distance in 2 minutes 34 3-5 seconds."
