This is an original 1926 halftone print of the Blue Nile flooding into Luxor (ancient Thebes), Egypt. The Colossi of Memnon can be seen in the far right corner, and in the foreground, the ruins of the Ramesseum. The Colossi of Memnon depict Amenhotep III, and were built in the 14th century BC of quartzite sandstone found at el-Gabal el-Ahmar. The Ramesseum is the memorial temple of Ramesses II and was built during the 13th century BC. Photography by Gaddis and Seif.
