This is an original 1930 halftone print of two women-- one from Algeria, and the other from India, wearing gold jewelry. The caption writes, "Economists, who think of gold in terms of money, are much disturbed about the gold that is wasted in private hoards and personal ornamentation. The Algerian woman pictured above is a cheerful example of the latter form of waste, as is the Darjeelian (Indian) woman with the large earrings. The gold in their decorations will never get into circulation."
