Sir William Rothenstein (1872-1945)

Originally from West Yorkshire, William Rothenstein grew up attending artistic institutions and being tutored by some of the finest artistic European minds of the early 1900s. He became well-known for his portraits, and had the distinction of being a war artist for both World War I and World War II. In his later years, he served as Principal for the Royal College of Art, where he had the opportunity to encourage others in their artistic passions.
