This is a still from the 1933 film
Cavalcade. Written by Noel Coward, the film was a pageant of English life and history over three decades from 1900-1933. In 1934
Cavalcade won the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Art Direction, William S. Darling, and Best Director, Frank Lloyd. This scene depicts British troops embarking on a ship bound for the South African (Boer) War.
Period Paper is pleased to offer a wonderful 1933 collection of original images from the world of film. This collection, which features some of the more unusual portraits and publicity stills of the great and (not-so-great) stars, is sure to be of interest to film buffs.
