This is an original 1935 halftone print of the beginning stages of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (Triborough Bridge) which spanned the Harlem River, the Bronx Kill, and the Hell Gate. The caption writes, "The Long Island approach to the Triborough Bridge which will link Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. The big anchorage at Astoria contains 75,000 cubic yards of concrete, 1,600 tons of steel, and cost $884,000." Photography by Charles Phelps Cushing.
