This is an original 1936 halftone print of a piece of machinery at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio. The company was founded in 1898 by Frank Seiberling, and manufactures tires for airplanes, trucks, and automobiles. The caption begins, "Like sausage from a housewife's grinder the inner tube emerges endlessly from an extruding machine in which a huge worm-driven screw forces the rubber stock through a die that gives it shape and size..."

Photography by William M. Rittase (1894-1968). He was an American photographer active from the 1920s to the 1930s. He is best known for his industrial photography and portraits often used in Fortune Magazine.
