Homer Dodge Martin

Martin, Homer D. (October 28, 1836-February 12, 1897) was an American artist known primarily for his landscape paintings. He was born in New York where he studied at the Hudson River School before marrying. He spent his summers in the Adirondacks, Catskills and White Mountains painting the scenery. During a trip to Europe he experienced the art of the Impressionist movement, which later translated into his own work upon his return. Later in life, nearly blind, he moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. There he painted one of his best pieces of the Adirondacks from memory before passing away.
