This is an original 1911 black and white halftone print of "A Chiclero at Work." A Chiclero is an individual who extracts gum from wild or cultivated trees in Mexico. According to the caption, "the gatherer of the Chicle gum climbs the tree by a native rope device," carrying a machete to make incisions from which he collects the gum.
