This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Pacific fleet destroyers in the waters of Hawaii. The captain of the fleet was Captain Evans, and produced the thick smoke covering shown as to hide the fleet from enemy eyes. The caption writes, "It was declared by naval experts that the screen here shown was the most successful and impenetrable one so far accomplished by Americans in this branch of naval warfare."
