This is an original 1882 hand-colored lithograph by English entomologist William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912), of several species of moths from the Pyrales and Tortrices families, including; the Brown China Mark, Elophila nymphaeata, (Fig. 1, a-b), the Odontia dentalis, (Fig. 2, a-b), the Ennychia nigrata, (Fig. 3), the Threnodes pollinalis, (Fig. 4), the Pyrausta purpuralis, (Fig. 5), the Botys urticata, (Fig. 6, a-b), the Botys flavalis, (Fig. 7), the Botys hyalinalis, (Fig. 8), the Crambus selasellus, (Fig. 9), the Crambus pinetellus, (Fig. 10), the Pempelia semirubella, (Fig. 11, a-b), the Myelophila cribrum, (Fig. 12, a-c), the Greater Wax Moth, Galleria mellonella, (also called the Honeycomb moth, Fig. 13), the Large Tabby, Aglossa pinguinalis, (Fig. 14), the Meal Moth, Pyralis farinalis, (Fig. 15), the Notched-wing Tortricid, Acleris emargana, (Fig. 16), the Lozotaenia sorbiana, (Fig. 17), and the European Oak Leafroller, Tortrix viridana, (also called the Green Oak Moth, Fig. 18).
