This is an original 1882 hand-colored lithograph by English entomologist William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912), of several species of moths from the Notodontidae family, including; the Buff-tip, Phalera bucephala, (Fig. 1), the Pale Prominent, Pterostoma palpina, (Fig. 2), the Lophopteryx camelina, (Fig. 3, a-b), the Scarce Prominent, Odontosia carmelita, (Fig. 4), the Microdontia bicolora, (Fig. 5), the Leiocampa dictaea, (Fig. 6), the Drymonia chaonia, (Fig. 7), the Three-humped Prominent, Notodonta tritophus, (Fig. 8), and the Pebble Prominent, Notodanta ziczac, (Fig. 9, a-d).
