This is an original 1901 print ad for the American Typewriter from The American Typewriter Company, New York City. The ad features their trademarked patent--
The American Way type-bar with key and type on one steel bar. This ad is interesting in that it uses a reference to the "new American Canal" (the Panama Canal) which eventually "will cut shipping expenses as the new American Typewriter cuts typewriter expenses."
