Maurice Logan (1886-1977): One of the "outstanding poster artists of California," his landscapes were in demand as travel advertisement posters for the Southern Pacific and Canadian Pacific railroads. Throughout the 1920's he painted and exhibited with a group of artists known as the Society of Six. He believed that in commercial art, anatomical perfection is not the important thing, but it is the rhythm of the finished product that counts. This belief can be seen in much of his commercial art which displays the beauty of the west.
