This is an original 1857 color chromolithograph of a portrait of the famous French stage and theater actress Mademoiselle Georges, also known as Marguerite Josephine Weimer, who was the mistress of French Emperor Napoleon I. She also claimed to have romantic relations with the Duke of Wellington.

This historical collection of women of the Court of Napoleon in France, illustrated by Jules Champagne, not only contradicts negative popular opinion of Napoleon and his royal court, but, rather, showcases his benevolent influence over manners, art, science, morals and literature through portraits of the elegant and beautiful women of his empire. The originals of this collection primarily belonged to the Historical Gallery of Versailles, thus sealing its historical relevance and authenticity.
