This is an original 1875 black and white wood engraving of the Alexandrian palace of the Viceroy. When this piece was produced, this palace housed the family of Viceroy Isma'il Pasha, or Ismail the Magnificent of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty who famously said "My country is no longer Africa; we are now part of Europe."
