He was very involved in the Danube School, where he discovered his passion for setting biblical and historical subjects and stories in front of expressive landscapes. He became interested in art, primarily small engravings and miniature art, through his father, leading him to join the Nuremberg Little Masters club. At age 31 he traveled to the Alps where he was so inspired by the scenery that he became the first landscape painter around, thus making him the leader of the Danube School, a school for landscape painters in Germany. After painting numerous works, he returned to his hometown of Regensburg and joined the city council before passing away in 1538.

Keywords specific to this image: Historic, Biblical, Landscape

XABA6C01 zz10000

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1021/8371/products/XABA6_019_c91923ac-fa27-491a-8754-6945f973cac2.jpg?v=1571712141
https://www.periodpaper.com/products/1901-print-martyrdom-quirinus-decapitate-religion-christianity-albrect-altdorfer-185815-xaba6-019
