This is an original 1904 black and white relief line-block map of the Siege and Battle of Valencia during the Peninsular War in 1812. The French Imperial Army under Marshal Louis Gabriel Suchet besieged and attacked the city, which was being defended by Spanish forces under Captain General Joaquín Blake. Heavily outnumbered, the Spanish were forced to surrender, however nearly 7,000 defenders escaped French capture.
