Jessie Willcox Smith

(1863-1935) Jessie Willcox Smith was perhaps the best known student of Howard Pyle. Although she never married, she specialized in drawing and painting charming images of women, children, and babies. Much of her work appeared on Good Housekeeping magazine covers and she also illustrated many books including A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Little Mother Goose, The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, and Heidi by Johanna Spyri.
