This is an original 1911 color print of Market Hill (the Market Square or Place) which is the location of the outdoor marketplace in Cambridge, England. It is believed that a market has been in existence here since Saxon times. Great St. Mary's Church can be seen in the background.

Haslehust, Ernest William

Ernest William Haslehust (Nov. 12, 1866- July 3, 1949) Haslehust was an English landscape painter and book illustrator who worked with mostly watercolors. He was born in Walthamstow in Essex and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London under Alphonse Legros. In addition to the work he exhibited regularly, he also designed posters for LNER and LMS railway companies and had his art featured in many magazines. This prolific British painter was best known for his 36 volumes of well-known ÒBeautiful EnglandÓ travel books.
