This is an original 1933 print of a publicity still from the 1932 film Tess of the Storm Country starring Charles Farrell and Janet Gaynor.

Charles Farrell (1901-1990) American leading man of the late silents and early talkies, he was known for his work with Janet Gaynor--they were considered the perfect screen lovers.

Janet Gaynor (1906-1894) Born Laura Gainor in Philadelphia, she worked first in films as an uncredited bit player. Her first credited role was in The Johnstown Flood (1926). Her work in Seventh Heaven (1927), Sunrise (1927), and Street Angel (1928) gave her the very first Academy Award for Best Actress. She was nominated for A Star Is Born (1937) but did not win.

Period Paper is pleased to offer a wonderful 1933 collection of original images from the world of film. This collection, which features some of the more unusual portraits and publicity stills of the great and (not-so-great) stars, is sure to be of interest to film buffs.
