This is an original 1936 halftone print of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (Triborough Bridge) which spanned the Harlem River, the Bronx Kill, and the Hell Gate. The bridge connects Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. The construction of the bridge actually began on Black Friday in 1929, and and so building was halted in order to simplify the original lay-out. Construction reconvened in the early 1930s with New Deal money. The bridge was opened in 1936. The caption writes, "The world's largest lift bridge is only one link in New York City's Triborough Bridge."
