This is an original 1938 color print of line elevators in the middle of a field. The caption writes, "Three of 5,700 line elevators-- lonely arbiters between wide prairie and wide world." The elevators have the names "Northern," and "H. M. Patterson Company Limited" written on the sides.

Allen Saalburg

Allen Saalburg worked almost exclusively in advertising art and magazine illustration. Saalburg went to school at the Academie Julian, the Art Students League of New York, and the Pratt Institute of Art. His images are vibrant and colorful, and was known for his mural work and depictions of buildings and structures. He usually worked with gouache paint. His brother, Leslie, was also a famous painter.
