This is an original 1940 halftone print of the assembly aisle at West Hartford for Pratt & Whitney. Pratt & Whitney was founded in 1925, and is currently one of the largest airplane engine manufacturers along with General Electric and Rolls-Royce. The company's headquarters is located in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Photography by Arthur Gerlach. Gerlach worked with Fortune Magazine for several years in the 1930s and '40s. He was known for his still-life images which usually encompassed two full-color pages. The Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois has a collection of his artwork.
