Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978) was a pre-Surrealist and Surrealist painter born in Volos, Greece. He founded the art movement, Scuola Metafisica, and is known for his metaphysical and dreamlike images. De Chirico won much praise for his works, and is remembered for his early paintings from the period between 1909 and 1919.
