This is a rare original 1875 color chromolithograph that depicts a variety of interesting paintings from Renaissance manuscripts. The two large ones in the middle of the plate are Italian, from the famous Graduel of Siena. All of the others are from the School of Tours during the French Renaissance, and were created by François Colombe, who worked under his famous uncle, the sculptor Michel Colombe. It appears as though religion and nudity go hand in hand for many of these intricate pieces. Their floral motifs and faux bronze designs are both unique and pleasing to the eye.

A unique feature of this illustration, which may be difficult to see in the digital image, is the use of gold ink that not only shimmers when it catches the light but also accentuates some of the finer details which might otherwise be missed.
