This is an original 1878? black and white steel engraving of Augustus Charles Hobart-Hampden, or Hobart Pasha, who was an English born Naval Officer who joined the Ottoman Navy during the Russo-Turkish War, and effectively crippled the Russian naval power in the Black Sea and on the Danube River. Hobart Pasha was the first Christian to earn the Ottoman military rank of Mushir, or Marshal.
