This is an original 1883 photolithograph of "Cruelty in Perfection", the third in a series of four paintings by William Hogarth (1697-1764) entitled "The Four Stages of Cruelty", that portrayed the character of Tom Nero being arrested for murdering his lover and accomplice, Ann Gill.
