This is an original 1884 black and white wood engraving of Dr. David Livingstone (1813-1873) who was a Scottish Congregationalist pioneer medical missionary and explorer in Africa. When Sir Henry Morton Stanley met him after searching for him in Africa, he famously said upon finding him, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"
