This is an original 1890 black and white wood engraving of the harbor of Syracuse, Sicily, Italy (Italia). The city is noted for its rich ancient Greek history. Along with Sparta and Corinth, Syracuse had great influence over the entire area, and became a very important city. Archimedes, the famous mathematician and polymath, was born in the city.
