This is an original 1891 half-page print article about a battery-operated Electric Lighter for general uses, manufactured by the Barr Electric Manufacturing Company, 17-19 Broadway, New York. This lighter consists simply of a cylindrical case of sheet metal, with base piece and cover attached with the aid of bolted-through rods. The exterior may be made plain, or decorated to suit the customer. In the interior of the cylinder is placed a cell of primary battery, which is set in action by pressing down the center rod seen projecting from the top of the cover.
