"Sanctuary of Flagellation. "

This is an original 1893 etching (individually hand-painted) of some ruins near the Sanctuary of Flagellation in the Praetorium in the Old City of Jerusalem, the place where tradition says that Jesus was scourged. It is a stop for pilgrims along the Via Dolorosa or Way of the Cross in Jerusalem.

Period Paper is pleased to offer an extraordinary and rare collection of original etchings of the Holy Land of Judea and Galilee. Created to document the history of the Franciscan missions in the Holy Land, these etchings provide an excellent historic visual record of the landscape, architecture, and people of Palestine and the Middle East. Each individually hand-painted etching (from a photograph) is mounted on a thick fiber board with a stunning decorative design lithographed in rich gold gilt. These museum-quality etchings are impossible to find anywhere.

Accompanying each original etching is a digital print (for reference) of the description of the image in English, Latin, French, Italian, and German. (Please see both images.)
