This is an original 1896 black and white halftone print of "The Cabanas Fortress, From Opposite Side of Harbor Entrance." This late nineteenth century image captures a view of the Cabanas Fortress from across the harbor of Marimelena. Cabanas Fortress, also known as the Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña (Fort of Saint Charles), is the largest fortress complex in the Americas. It was constructed in the eighteenth century on the eastern side of the entrance to the harbor of Havana, Cuba.
