This is an original 1896 black and white wood engraving of The Marquis of Talleyrand, or Charles Maurice de Talleyrand, who would become Grand Chamberlain under Napoleon I, and would eventually become an outspoken voice in the French government over the treatment of the Austrians and Prussians by the French military.
